Quote

“Try to learn to breathe deeply, really to taste food when you eat, and when you sleep, really to sleep. Try as much as possible to be wholly alive with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell. And when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough” – Ernest Hemingway

Just One of Those Days

Aside

You know how some people say it’s just one of those days? We’ve all had that kind of day…and it’s up to you to turn it around. Recently, I had a day where all I did was drop everything, say all the wrong things, and developed the inability to do anything productive. Here are some ways to make a bad day a better day:

1) Smile. Smiling can help change your mood, it’s almost like that smile can trick our brain and body into feeling better. Studies have shown that smiling releases endorphins into the body, which is known to be a natural happy drug.

2) Do something you enjoy doing. It’s very important to take the time for yourself. Maybe you enjoy reading, watching your favourite tv show or baking some chocolate chip cookies. You’ll feel instantly better and it gives you a reminder to enjoy these things more often.

3) Go for a walk. Usually, my mind relaxes and I get to think more calmly if I go for a walk. All it takes is a 10-30 minute walk!

4) Spend time with someone you enjoy being with. Surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you. It’s an important step to get out of this funk.

5) Listen to some good music. Your favourite song might be the trick to feeling better. Personally, I love the song by The Proclaimers called “I Would Walk 500 Miles.” That song truly pumps me up, it makes me want to enjoy the rest of my day.

I hope these tips help get anybody’s day back on track!
